Last run to finish!

Yesterday we did several things to the layout, we "greened" the hill and made the road over the tracks:

I gave both sets of figures some sand covered on their supports so it looks better and more natural this way:

A litt;e dog is pee-ing on the tent:

Made some switch stands after some prototype photo's from styreen:

And on their place. Doesn't look bad, or?:

And with more green:

Today we did a lot of work, I went on with the green work on the left as my wife did the Lavy hotel. Maybe it is a little too romantic but we are very satisfied with the look of it.

SO; ALMOST FINISHED!!:

So far we did well. We hope you liked the building, I'm sure we did. There will be little updates from now, the layout goes to a Dutch Exhibition next weekend on 8, 9 and 10 March (http://www.spoorwegmuseum.nl/news__press/on_traxs.html). After that it will attend in the same museum a half year exhibition that is called "tracks to the frontlines". It covers trains in wartime from the ACW (my layout!) to the present. It also will behold several models and real equipment from several countrys that participated in the several wars over the years.

So we keep you posted!!

Thanks for watching!!!!

Flags and tents

Yesterday I placed the tents on their place. The open ones have small lights in them, in time they will be lit:

The campfire; I made it with a led that was in a cheap Christmas painting and functioned as imitation candle. It feeds with 3 volts, for that purpose the layout gets a special transformer:

The battle group is in place. The left one fires, the right one loads its cannon:

And a helicopter view of the camp:

I had some flags ordered, today I made a flagpole and glued the flags on it. I bend them around a small pencil to form them slightly:

The flags are slightly historical. They all come from 1863 and Georgia so that fits with the titel of the layout: "Kennesaw GA 1863".

Ballast finished and other stuff

This morning I did the last piece of ballast on the right side:

Glued with the mix:

This afternoon I got parts from Grandt Line for my cars:

And a new pilot for the 4-4-0, I think it looks better with this one:

My wife is almost ready with the Lacy hotel, I did the fence around it:

My artillery point is coming to life now, the sandbags are painted and I made some underground seen on photos for the cannons and the personnel:

And more!

I went on with figures and stuff from Redoubt Enterprises. This is the assembled set that will go around the campfire:

Stack of musket rifles go in front of the tents:

RE does there figures with seperate heads, that way you can adapt these figures to your own needs:

The set with seated figures is great, here are two of the guys on the loaded flatcar:

And in detail and close-up:

They have a 32-pounder that fits well on the gun flatcar:

And a overview of the camp:

Building stuff!

Yesterday started the guns, my other stuff arrived this past week. I first build the guns and limbers, wheels are still loose on the models:

Sets:

With the General Purpose wagon and the Surrey carriage:

Overview of the place-to-be. Still some tents missing, they are primed yet:

Two flats with there gun loads. Can anybody tell me how these things where secured? Can't find anything on that:

The gun site. It will have a lot of detail when finished:

And again from another angle. I already like it!:

First batch of parts arrived!

I got the first batch of parts from Redoubt Enterprises from England. It contains cannons, lumberwagons, figures, etc. Here a overview:

I started the wagon and the carriage this evening. The parts are good cleaned from the factory so little work on them is needed:

Here the ammunition wagon. It goes quickly together with no problems. The wheels are lossely put on it:

Later more!
