New 0N30 layout in the making!
Hi all,
We are in the process of building a new small exhibition layout in 0N30. It will be a swamp layout based on Louisiana swamp logging. Focus will be the swamp, cypress trees and a small harbour. We is myself and my wife Wanda who will build the trees and some buildings.
It will be around 4,5 feet by 1,5 feet visible and a equal part non-visible as runaround staging.
Plan:
It will feature a Kitwood Hill Models paddlesteamer.
We use wood from a JV Models kit.
And Coffee stir sticks.
Wanda will build this Plantation house as background model.

Hello folks,
I'm hard ay work on another project of ours; a 5-module 0N30 layout with a Southern State appearance. It is called "Lake Louisa RR, John Hammond's swamp logging". Rail and turnouts are all handlaid code 80 on ties that are made of mouth sticks your doctor uses to look in your throat! Most buildings are made of wooden cofee stirsticks. I will show progress photo's in a few days.
Here some of the building. Me and my wife, she will do most of the scenery and the buildings:
Deadline is the last weekend of Februari where I will take it to Germany at the yearly show of the MEC Lahnstein-Koblenz in the village of Lahnstein. The week after that it will make it's official appearance at the OntraXS show (www.ontraxs.com) held 2, 3 and 4 March in the Dutch Railway Museum in Utrecht Netherlands.
After that show I will start with the building of the Civil War layout. Idea is still 2 modules with a staging yard. Above that I want a diorama in the same size as the modules. So that there is a distinctive feeling with the theme I'll show.
This layout will also have its premiere at the Ontraxs show in 2013. After that it will go home with me and will return to the museum in their yearly season exhibition. In the year 2013 it is a war theme with different real carriages and locos from around Europe. They also want to display some dioramas and my layout will be the focus point as layout/diorama that shows trains in wartime at a very early time in history.
I can tell you that I'm very proud that they asked me, also because there is still nothing build....

En deel 2 aangepast! Het achterste (voormalige opstel) spoor is er af gezaagd. Hier komt t.z.t. een stijgend spoor naar een hoger gelegen kapplaats van hout (op toekomstige modules 3 en 4).
And part 2 adapted to the new situation. The spur that was in the back is cut off. On a later date I will build a spur there that will go to a higher ground on the layout (on future module 3 and 4).

De nieuwe Harlan Wade in 0N30!
Oke, hier dan het verhaal:
De 0N30 baan Harlan Wade is al even in de maak. Ergens in 2007 was ik al gestart met het project en de baan stond zelfs bij de MBS in Heumen in Oktober 2007, en op Rijswijk in November 2008. Bak 1 stond ook nog bij de IGM Kaarst in Maart 2009. Vandaar liep het eigenlijk niet meer. 2009 was gezondheidtechnisch voor ons gezin een rampjaar dus daar is ook niet veel gebouwd, en bleef Harlan Wade bij 1 bak die redelijk klaar was en 1 bak kaal.
Mijn echtgenote Wanda heeft onlangs op OntraXS 2010 deelgenomen met een Indonesisch baantje genaamd "Halte Padjarakan. De vegetatie daarvan is zo goed gedaan dat het haar een opname opgeleverd heeft in “Eisenbahn Romantik” van Hagen von Ortloff, maar ook een toekomstige plaatsing in 3 modelspoorbladen.
Na OT 2010 gaf zij aan best nog eens wat te willen doen met modelspoor, en Harlan Wade was daarvoor een goed startpunt. Ik heb de plannen voor die baan daarom drastisch omgegooid. In plaats van een 2-module baan zullen het er nu meerdere worden, en groter. Oorspronkelijk waren de bakjes 120 bij 45, nu zal het 60 bij 120 worden (met een netto oppervlak van 55 bij 120cm) per bak. De scenery van deze baan zal geinspireerd zijn op de Australische 0N3 baan “Red Stag Lumber Co” (hier, hier en hier). Ook zullen het nu meerdere modules worden en meer thema’s. De planning nu is 3 thema’s:

- Thema 1: Het oorsponkelijke Camp Alma gebaseerd op beide oude modules. Deze zullen dus hergebruikt worden. Tevens zal Camp Alma groter worden. Thema 1 zal 4 modules behelzen.
- Thema 2: Tussenstop. Hier zal een oude mijn aanwezig zijn waarvan de sporen gebruikt worden om of lege of volle houtwagens te stallen. Deze kunnen dan in beide richtingen naar gelang nodig opgepikt worden. Thema 2 zal uit 3 modules bestaan.
- Thema 3: Hout opslag. In tegenstelling tot anderen gaan wij dus geen houtzagerij doen! Ons plan is een opslag te laten zien waar zowel de stammen alswel het gezaagde hout te zien zullen zijn. Ook zal hier een klein locdepot komen voor onze Shays en Climax lokomotieven. Thema 3 zal op 3 bakken gebouwd worden. Tussen thema 2 en 3 zal nog een staging bak komen.
Thema 1 moet eind 2010 klaar zijn. Naar gelang de tijd zullen we proberen thema 2 er bij klaar te hebben begin 2011 zodat we ergens in Nederland op een show mee kunnen doen als grote primeur in Nederland! Maar dan moeten we er nog flink tegenaan........!!

Daar zijn we weer. Lang niks aan de blog gedaan maar nu wil ik 'm toch gaan gebruiken voor 1 van onze projecten hier. Het zal gaan over de baan "Harlan Wade". Verder ook hier wat ander gefreubel dat tussendoor plaats vind.
