4-4-0 conversion/rebuild

I did some work on the Bachmann 4-4-0.  Bought a cab kit from Mount Blue Model Co, it is a angled roof that fits the period better than the round roof that is on the Bachmann loco:

The kit is fairly easy, laser cut in very thin and fine fineer. All the parts are with it, also nut and bolt castings for the metal simulated plate in front of the cab and on top of the boiler.
Very well done kit and great fun to build. I also bought a funnel from Boulder Valley and a new longer pilot from grandt Line. I also refiited the front lamp so it sits further at the front. I also made new supports struts for the lamp platform:

And here painted. The cab doors are green here (as is the interior) but after taking this picture I redid that and painted them brown as of the rest of the cab:

Building couplers and other stuff

Tonight I build 13 coupler houses with the link and pin. They are Wiseman and fitted for Kadee housing. This is my workspot at the table in the livingroom:

I start with the standard box, cut off the ears, lay in the 232 spring from Kadee, there is the coupler that will fit in the lid and then the whole box with coupler. I painted the middle part of the coupler so that it will keep moving when I paint the heads of the couplers:

Number 13 had still to be placed under the already finished flatcar:

My wife finished the top of the roof with shingles, here she places a dot of white glue:

And then she lays in the shingle with the tip of a scalpel knfe:

Testing link and pin couplers

Today I tested the Wiseman link and Pin couplers. Therefor I installed them on the Bachmann 4-4-0 tender and on a half-painted flatcar. Not totally sharp but you get the picture:
